Is Sweating Bad After Hair Transplant? Are you planning to have a hair transplant due to extensive hair loss? A hair transplant surgery is effective in repairing your lost hair, but there are many things you need to know before undergoing the procedure. There are some strict things that should not be associated with a hair transplant, both before and after the procedure.

After The Hair Transplant

Avoid activities that lead to heavy sweating. Sweating increases the risk of infections on your scalp. You should also avoid steam baths or sauna treatments for one month after the procedure.

Avoid exposure to direct sunlight immediately after the hair transplant and also for the following days.

Avoid touching or bothering with the grafted scalp. Picking and rubbing the sore throat can cause new implants to fall before you have a chance to grow.

Do not take alcohol for the first five days after the hair transplant procedure.

Avoid smoking for a month after the procedure as it stops the flow of blood to the hair follicles.

Do not engage in any form of sport or exercise immediately after the procedure. You can continue working after a period of ten days and wait a month to return to other physical activities and sports.

Sweating

The scalp is extremely thin. The sweating that occurs here adversely affects newly implanted hair transplants. Sweating is known to be almost inevitable after intense effort made during sexual intercourse. Therefore, sweating due to sexual intercourse will threaten the implants.

Sweating and Exercise

Sweating can increase the risk of developing grafts for infection. If you have a prolonged bacterial infection that affects the transplanted grafts, this may affect the success of your hair transplant. We advise our patients to prevent sweating by staying away from the sun, avoiding exercise until 14 days have passed or until redness around the implants.

Pressure And Exercise

If you stretch during exercise, you increase the pressure on your scalp and therefore the risk of “escape” transplant. This means that it is not recommended to do heavy lifting or strenuous exercise until your implants are completely safe, which is at the 14-day mark after surgery.

Hitting Your Head

For patients who play contact sports such as rugby, boxing and soccer, there is a high risk of hitting your head repeatedly. This injury can damage the hair follicles and therefore the chances of a successful hair transplant.

When Can You Exercise After a Hair Transplant?

Most patients can exercise just 14 days after the hair transplant, when the implants are generally safe. With this in mind, we recommend to patients:

  • Perform light exercise after 7 days. This includes any activity that does not make you sweat e.g. walking, table tennis
  • Perform normal exercise after 14 days. This includes going to the gym, lifting heavy weights and performing a strenuous cardio session.
  • These patients who want to play contact sports can play after 1 month after the hair transplant
  • If you still have a lot of redness in the transplant area after surgery, it is important to discuss your decision to practice with your hair transplant surgeon. While exercising at this point may not affect the success of your transplants, it may prolong your treatment and recovery.

Avoid Sun Exposure

A few months after the surgery, you should protect your head from the sun, your surgeon will suggest. This is to prevent sweating on your scalp – as sweating can cause bacteria that can affect your skin resulting in infection.

Sweating can also cause discomfort to your scalp and you may be tempted to rub or scrub your scalp. Scrubbing or scrubbing the scalp after hair surgery is a problem-free area.

If exposed to the sun, a head that literally had thousands of tiny incisions may have damaged its tissues, resulting in a long healing time.

To avoid sunburn, you can wear a hat every time you leave the house or use sunscreen when you are out.

After The Hair Transplant

Remember all the surgeon’s instructions for postoperative care. Although there are general instructions for care, you should listen to your surgeon and his instructions.

Try to keep your scalp dry on the first day after the transplant, which allows your skin to heal.

Keep your scalp clean during the recovery process. You may feel pain and numbness and you should not put anything on your scalp that can cause side effects.

Take proper care of your scar. Scars and itching are possible and should be treated using topical creams prescribed by your surgeon.

If you are diabetic, you should talk to your surgeon about how to handle your diet and manage your insulin before and on the day of the hair transplant procedure. Your surgeon will help you with what to eat, what not to eat and how to behave after treatment.

In case you have any concerns or questions, you can always consult a specialist and get answers to your questions!

There are some points to be considered for a while after hair transplantation. We have listed the rules you need to follow in this article. You can contact our clinic for other questions you have in mind.

New implants are gently placed in their new position and may take a few days to fully “take root”. For most patients, implants are only safe in their new position 14 days after surgery and this is affected when you can start exercising. Before 14 days have passed, there are many factors that patients should be aware of that can adversely affect the hair transplant, one of which involves exercising very early. Sweating can damage the grafts. Is Sweating Bad After Hair Transplant?
