FUE FUT hair transplant techniques

Generally, two different techniques are used in hair transplant operations. One of them is the FUT technique, and the other is the hair transplantation methods performed with the FUE technique. The FUT technique, which is accepted as a traditional technique, is not preferred much today. Hair transplantation performed with the FUT method in the 1990s has left its place to the FUE method, which was developed in the early 2000s and started to be used after 2005.

Who invented fue hair transplant? Although the development of hair transplantation goes back to very old times, hair transplantation in the world began to be used in its current meaning in the mid-1990s. Since that date, it has continuously improved with small innovations, but the basic principles of FUE have not changed. Today, it continues to be used as the most advanced hair transplant technique.

With the FUE method, which is one of the most recent and modern hair transplantation techniques and accepted as the gold standard, people with hair loss are offered the opportunity to have natural-looking hair.

The difference of the FUE technique used in hair transplantation is that it leaves little scars and shows rapid recovery. The success of the operation increases depending on the development of the materials used in the FUE method. There are several types of FUE method; classical FUE (Micromotor), robotic FUE, DHI hair transplantation (FUE with Choi implanter), sapphire FUE (FUE with sapphire tip).

Who Invented FUE Hair Transplant?

The invention of the FUE hair transplantation method was first introduced in Japan in 1988 by Masumi Inaba and gradually began to find a place in the medical world with 1mm punches. It took its place in the medical literature in 2002 thanks to William R. Rassman and Robert M. Bernstein.

In 2007, Dr Miquen G. Canales and Dr Robotic FUE hair transplantation method were developed by David Berman. FUE hair transplantation method forms the basis of robotic hair transplantation.

The person who invented the FUE hair transplant technique is Masumi Inaba, but it was able to take its place in the medical literature in 2002. With the developing technology, the FUE technique passed to a completely different dimension in 2002 and brought the concept of robotic hair transplantation.

Who should prefer FUE hair transplant?

People who are not considered in social and business life generally prefer this method. Because the stitches may take a long time to heal. Hair transplant is a permanent solution for baldness. Choosing the right hair transplant surgeon for surgery should be the primary consideration.

Usually; people with smaller baldness areas, people who want to use shorter hairstyles, people with active lifestyles like athletes, women with smaller baldness areas, those who prefer less invasive procedures and those who do not want scalp cuts, stitches, those who want faster recovery they prefer.

Hair transplantation with FUE technique

FUE is the process of taking each hair follicle one by one with the help of a micromotor and transferring it to the newly opened places in the area where it will be moved. It is the removal of hormone-sensitive hair follicles at the back of the head individually as a unit without feeling pain and transferring seamlessly to the bald areas in the crown and forehead area.

Who invented fue hair transplant; since the hair follicles taken from the back of the head are not sensitive to the hormone, they do not fall out from their new place. With this technique, it’s not just hair; eyebrow, moustache and beard transplantation can also be done.

The disadvantage compared to other techniques where the roots are not removed individually is that the operation time is longer. If a large amount of hair is removed from the donor area, thinning can be seen in that area.

FUE and FUT differences

The wound left by FUT operation may take a minimum of two weeks to heal. However, small scars opened with FUE heal within 2-3 days. It ensures that those who work under severe conditions or who cannot take a long break from work can adapt to their jobs as soon as possible.

The traditional FUT method leaves a strip-like scar on the neck area. It may force you to use longer hairstyles to cover the scar. In the modern FUE Method, the scars are too small to be noticed even with the use of short hair.

Roots that are not of good quality can be detected with the FUE method and may not be used in planting, but since the cut area is transplanted in one piece in the FUT method, low quality roots can be planted.

While people who can benefit from the FUT Method are limited to those who have severe hair loss and have flexible scalp, the FUE Method appeals to a broader audience.
