The most difficult part of hair transplantation is waiting for hair growth. Hair transplanted today will not start growing until 3-4 months after the procedure. Before this time, small spots will form around the cuttings. The spots will fall off in 7-10 days along with the hair shaft. This is normal. The hair root is left behind. The new hair shaft will continue to grow under the skin, reaching the surface in 3-4 months. About 10 months the hair will mature and add density to the areas.

Take a look at some of the benefits of hair restoration care:

Do not choose scabies that form

It is normal to see scabies on your scalp a few days after a hair transplant. Avoid picking up stains or scratching them when itching, as this can contaminate the site – and damage the cuttings.

Publication of operating instructions

Scabbing  The spots will form and fall naturally in the coming weeks. Do not pick scabies or you may pull a hair root. Avoid scratching the transplanted area. Scabies will start to fall from the second week onwards. You may notice tiny hair on scabies. Your transplants remain intact: this is just the rejection of the original hair that was transplanted. The hair follicles remain down and will push new hair in about 3 months.

Take your medicines Once you get home, take your medicine as soon as possible. You should eat before taking medication to avoid nausea or vomiting. Your prescription and exact dosage are given separately. Contact your hair transplant surgeon or other medical staff if you need further clarification.

Do not smoke or drink alcohol

For at least 48 hours after the procedure. Alcohol can dilute the blood and cause bleeding. Smoking hinders the healing process and can reduce the intake of grafts.

Wear protection on your head When outdoors in rain or sunlight, for 3-4 weeks after the transplant. Prolonged direct sun exposure can damage newly transplanted follicles and can even cause sunburn.

Sleep Lie down and rest for 2-3 hours after surgery. Alternatively, you can lie on your back with two pillows under your head. Avoid sleeping on your stomach. (this prevents swelling of your face).

Physical activity Limit all strenuous activity for the next 2 weeks. This includes dancing, jogging, diving, lifting heavy objects, and very intense exercise. Avoid bending and excessive neck movements. You can continue yoga and brisk walking after 7 days. Full exercise and swimming can be resumed after 4 weeks.

Swelling, numbness, and drowsiness With the FUE technique, the chances of these problems are minimal, but they may occur occasionally. Do not panic! Swelling is normal in the forehead area. Slight swelling and discoloration may appear in the facial area on the cheeks. Use cold compresses on your face if swelling occurs. Numbness at the top of the head and the stitch line is normal after the transplant. It will improve gradually. Consumption of blood or fluid in the stitch line is normal for up to 48 hours after the procedure. Apply light pressure with gauze to stop. If it persists, consult the clinic.

Headband:

This area should not be removed for the first 48 hours unless you are shampooing or the doctor tells you to. Continue to wear it for at least 2-3 days after surgery. After that, it can be ignored if there is no swelling around the eyes.

Salt water spray

Start on the 4th day of surgery. Spraying seawater on the cuttings helps in rapid healing and promotes the removal of any stains.

Dissolve one and a half teaspoons of table salt in 250 ml of water. Spray salt solution on the graft area. Do not soak the graft area. Leave it for 5 minutes before the air dries or tap lightly with a paper towel. Do this 4 to 6 times a day. Continue until all spots disappear (about 10 days).

Folliculitis in the graft area:

Very rarely, a patient may develop bursitis at the vaccination site. They are pimples like lesions that look like acne. If this happens, apply antibiotic ointment to the areas three times a day.

Hair Caring:

Do not comb your hair on the day of the transplant. The next day after the transplant, you can gently comb your existing hair. Avoid scratching the scalp with your comb or brush. Repeat the normal hair care routine 3 weeks after surgery or when all the spots disappear.

General precautions:

  • Be careful when getting in a car!
  • Avoid wearing tight round neck t-shirts. When worn, they can be rubbed at the transplant site and some implants removed.
  • Loose coatings should be used. Wool caps can be tangled in spots or transplanted “beards”.
  • Shampoo and cleaning: In our clinic, the first wash is done by trained technicians. You can take care of your transplanted area after the first cleaning.

Your hair should be washed on the 3rd day after surgery

You can use shampoo to wash your hair. Rinse the shampoo in the palm of your hand. Apply this shampoo to the area (do not rub) and let it sit for 1-2 minutes. Rinse gently with a bowl of water or a gentle stream of water from the shower.

Do not rub the cuttings to dry them. Do it starting on the 3rd day after surgery, once a day for a week.

After the 10th day, you should be able to shampoo regularly. For now, you can also start gently massaging the scalp with your fingers to speed up the removal of fish. However, scratching with nails should be avoided.
